About This Place

Nestled in the vibrant heart of New York City’s Theater District, The Marshal offers an inviting and lively American dining experience with a distinctive pizza restaurant twist. Located at 628 10th Ave, this neighborhood gem expertly marries locally sourced ingredients with inventive wood-fired cooking, delivering a menu that thrills both traditionalists and culinary adventurers alike.

The Marshal’s culinary canvas features standout dishes that truly captivate the palate. The Smoked Hudson Valley Duck Breast Pizza offers a sublime play of smoky richness layered over a perfectly blistered crust, while their Truffle & Porcini Mushroom Pizza envelops you in earthy elegance, each bite punctuated by the deep, woodsy aromas of forest mushrooms and truffle oil. For seafood lovers, the Shrimp Scampi Pizza delivers a vibrant, garlicky freshness balanced with tender shrimp, making it a uniquely satisfying slice unlike any other.

But The Marshal’s appeal extends beyond pizzas. Their Famous Wood Fired Meatloaf is a comforting yet elevated take on a classic, boasting a charred exterior and juicy interior that lingers in your memory. Equally enticing are the Wood Oven Roasted Chicken Wings, crispy and succulent with a subtle smoky backbone. The Apple & Sunchoke Salad balances bright tartness with nutty richness, adding a refreshing contrast to the heartier plates.

The atmosphere here pulses with a warm, bustling energy that reflects its prime Midtown location—perfect for a casual dinner before a Broadway show or a lively night out with friends. Waitstaff are attentive and friendly, often going the extra mile to accommodate special requests, as one guest delighted in having duck prosciutto served on the side for a vegetarian at their table. Another enjoyed a custom cocktail, praising the mixologist’s skill in crafting a flawless Bees Knees.

Beverages at The Marshal are thoughtfully curated. Craft beer enthusiasts will appreciate selections like the crisp Pale Ale from Bronx Brewery or the smooth Kill Van Kolsch by Flagship Brewing Co.. The wine list thoughtfully complements the menu, while coffee and tea offerings—such as the rich Brazilian dark roast and a variety of expertly blended teas—round out the experience.

The dessert offerings are equally memorable; the rich, fudgy Chocolate Brownie and complimentary treats gifted to guests after an unexpected mishap reflect The Marshal’s genuine hospitality and desire to turn every meal into a lasting memory.

While some diners have noted that the lively space can get noisy during peak hours, the friendly and accommodating staff continually make each visit worthwhile. Whether you’re savoring the velvety deviled eggs, delighting in the innovative pizza toppings, or unwinding with expertly crafted cocktails, The Marshal consistently delivers a deeply satisfying and authentic New York dining experience that invites you to return again and again.

The deviled eggs are great. They happily served the duck prosciutto topping on the side for the vegetarian at our table (who would have happily eaten a dozen deviled eggs if it was socially acceptable). Our server also cheerfully subbed thinly sliced duck breast for bacon on the peach-arugula-mozzarella-bleu cheese pizza. It was a heavenly sweet/umami bomb. The shrimp scampi pizza was just as good. Anyone who can serve a perfectly cooked shrimp is worth their weight in shrimp. The eggs plus two $18 lunch specials (a 10-in pizza and a small tomato and greens salad) plus the eggs satisfied three adults, which is why we The virgin drinks are maybe an acquired taste, but we'd happily stick with tap water and go back again and again and again, if only we lived in the city. Sadly, The Marshal will have to be a tourist spot for us. Definitely going back to try the roasted carrots, mac-n-cheese, and mushroom truffle pizza.

Great local spot! Amazing cocktails - delicious thoughtfully crafted plates and pizza. Locally sourced ingredients, attentive service and a great vibe. Dawson crafted a wonderful custom cocktail (bees knees) and the Negroni was exceptional. We will be back!

Let's put last, first. The starters were so good that at the end of our meal, we decided to definitely come back just to have the starters along with their dessert wine from the Brotherhood Winery. We've had the good fortune of going to this local winery on numerous occasions. Their wines are some of the best If you're a deviled egg lover, the devil eggs would easily steal the show. Somehow, the chef was able to cram a half dozen egg yolks into three half whites. The deviled eggs had tons of flavor. Great steelhead trout, and there's nothing like a good pizza topped with smoked duck breast. Great dessert, Maple Marshmallow Smores Love the narrow, cozy, intimate space.

It was very noisy when we were there. I understood kids were being kids, but in such a small space, the noise got very loud. Their chicken salad had too much dressing. The pizza was too soft to get picked up. Otherwise, everything was fine. The waitresses were very friendly.

Came here right before seeing Wicked, very close to Broadway with a reasonable walk. Let’s start by saying when we first sat down, the waiter tripped and accidentally spilt a Coke all over me. You will notice though that my star rating is still at 5 stars, so that should say something about my experience here. Our waiter was SUPER nice. He totally made it up to me and sent us a free dessert at the end and checked on me multiple times. The food we got was incredible, all of it really but especially the Mac and cheese with bacon, and the dessert which was like a maple s’mores or something omg it is so good. Get it. Overall I would return. It was a great experience, small but nice restaurant with great location.

Great spot for lunch! We got 3 different kinds of pizza ( with pear, duck, and prosciutto), and all of them were delicious! The atmosphere is very pleasant and friendly, but the place itself is quite small.

A little tight with the seating but still decent. Definitely worth stopping in before a show they ask you if you are seeing one and what time it starts to accommodate you. Food, service and cocktails all were very good!
